Reporting gaps can occur if a submission is late, rejected, or unmatched. DPS links a reportable fingerprint event to a Texas State Identification number and, when applicable, an FBI identifier. Prosecutors and courts later send charging and disposition data. A local dismissal may therefore appear in the Tyler County file before it reaches the state history, or it may remain unmatched. A dismissal does not automatically remove the arresting agency's report or the Tyler County jail booking. Texas expunction under Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 55A is a separate remedy with strict eligibility rules tied to the whole arrest event, charge history, outcome, and any waiting period. An order of nondisclosure can restrict public release of qualifying criminal-history information, but it does not erase all access by authorized entities.
